- Contour or Profile Gauges are indispensable when you need to copy an existing profile or molding. Profile gauges consist of a set of small diameter stainless steel pins that are held tightly against each other in a steel frame but can still move independently and hold their position. When pressed against a profile the gauge conforms to the profile creating a perfect negative profile and a corresponding positive profile on the other side.
- These profiles can now be used to draw the contour or duplicate it on to another surface.
- These gauges have either .8mm (150 mm gauge) or 1 mm (200 and 300 mm gauges) diameter stainless steel pins which produce much smoother curves and finer details than plastic gauges.
- Maximum profile depth is 2 inches for the 150mm, 3-1/8 inches for the 200mm and 5-1/8 inches for the 300mm.
